Lead Pilot (SPIFR) - Multi-Mission/Fire Base

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Operate the aircraft in compliance with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, and company policies, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with dispatch, medical teams, and ground personnel to facilitate smooth transport operations.
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections, monitor weather, and ensure aircraft are ready for dispatch.
  • Maintain aircraft cleanliness and assist with upkeep around the base.
  • Promptly report any aircraft discrepancies to the maintenance team.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including flight logs and manifests, accurately and on time.
  • Provide detailed shift change reports and adhere to company protocols for updates.
  • Embody the core values of REACH and maintain professionalism on and off duty.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Certifications:

  • FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate
  • FAA Helicopter Instrument Rating (Required)
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience Requirements:

  • 2,000 helicopter flight hours
  • 1,000 helicopter Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours
  • 1,000 turbine hours
  • Minimum of 200 helicopter night flight hours (aided/un-aided)
  • 100 cumulative hours of instrument flight time
  • Meet US Forest Service carding requirements:
    • 100 flight hours in the previous 12 months
    • 50 hours in the EC-135
    • 200 hours mountain time (as defined by AIM)

Pilot Incentives:

  • Hourly position with a 35% geographical modifier to base pay
  • 24-hour pilot housing provided

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • 230-pound weight limit, including flight gear
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand, walk, or crawl
  • Frequently lift/move up to 70 pounds
  • Vision requirements include various visual capabilities
  • Time-sensitive decision-making abilities under pressure
  • Adaptability to irregular schedules and changing needs
